Too Many Carrots by Katy Hudson
Recommended Grades: Pre-K to 2

Rabbit loved his carrots. He had so many carrots that his house was full and he couldn’t sleep in it. Luckily, he had friends who were willing to share their homes. However, when rabbit and his carrots try to get in his friends’ homes, there isn’t enough room. In fact, his friends’ homes end up breaking, and now none of them have a place to stay. It’s just then that rabbit remembers he still has a home and all his carrots - which are perfect for sharing.
It’s Not Easy Being A Bunny by Marilyn Sadler
Recommended Grades: Pre-K to 2

P.J. FunnyBunny wasn’t so sure he wanted to be a bunny anymore. Instead, he decided to try out life as different animals. Each time he went to live with another animal, he realized that life wasn’t the life for him. In the end, he realized that it’s best to be a bunny. This is a great book about self esteem to read to your students this Easter.
Woolbur by Leslie Helakoski

Woolbur is a sheep who doesn’t do things quite like anyone else. While his parents worry about him being different than the other sheep, Woolbur thinks it’s great to do things in his own way. This book has a great message about self esteem and loving the things that make you different.
Yoga Bunny by Brian Russo
Recommended Grades: K to 3
Topics It Covers: Yoga and Mindfulness
Bunny is doing yoga, and wants his friends to join. Unfortunately, they are all too busy or distracted. Eventually, they all end up joining bunny as they work through a few different yoga poses. This is a great book to read to encourage students to slow down and even practice yoga themselves!
Bully B.E.A.N.S. by Julia Cook

Bobbette was a big bully – she told everyone what to do. No one stood up to her because they were all afraid. Then, one girl told her mom about Bobbette. Her mom gave her bully beans, which gave the girl and her friends the courage they needed to finally stand up for themselves! The jelly bean theme in this book makes it perfect to celebrate Easter in your school counseling lessons this April.
The Good Egg by Jory John
Recommended Grades: 1 to 3

This story is about an egg who is a good egg… a really good egg. He does everything he can to make sure he is being good, and that the other eggs in the carton are good too. All of this pressure makes his shell start to crack. It is then that he realizes the importance of taking care of himself. Eventually, he is able to return to his egg friends with new boundaries in place and is able to get along with his friends and himself much better!

The Big Umbrella by Amy June Bates and Juniper Bates

The umbrella loves to help others. It loves to spread its arms wide to give everyone shelter. It doesn’t matter what you look like, or who you are, the umbrella is there to help. This is a great book to read about inclusion this April!
Ivy And The Lonely Raincloud by Katie Harnett

The lonely raincloud wanted a friend, but he had a hard time finding someone who would appreciate him. That was until he found a little girl who was also lonely. She wasn’t too sure about the raincloud at first, but then he showed her that he had something she would love - rain for her flowers. This is a great tale about friendship and helping each other.
Cloudette by Tom Lichtenheld
Recommended Grades: K to 2

Cloudette usually likes being a small cloud. Sometimes, though, she thinks about the great things she could do if she were a big cloud. In the end though, she realizes that there are great things a small cloud can do. This is a great spring time book about loving who you are and aspiring to do great things!
The Rhino Who Swallowed A Storm by LeVar Burton

Rhino swallowed a storm to help protect his friends. When he did that, he entered a dark place in life. Throughout the book, Rhino learns strategies to overcome the difficulties in his life, and instead begins to live a life of hope in closeness with family and friends.
Felix After The Rain by Dunja Jogan

Topics It Covers: Coping Skills, Dealing With Difficult Situations
Felix held a heavy suitcase. It was full of dark and hurtful things that popped up with his grandmother died, when people were mean to him, and when he got in trouble. The suitcase got heavier and heavier until one day he put it down. When he did, a little boy opened it and let all of the hard and difficult things out. This created a huge storm for Felix as he had to face all of the things that were hidden in his suitcase. But then, we see that Felix makes it through the storm to a much more healthy and beautiful place - plus he has a new friend!
